Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

I particularly like the scenario rule;
Treat all clear hexes as forest (jungle).
The weak japanese tank/anti-tank needs something like that to be viable.

Whoah, talk about radically altering the game- am I missing something here, or is all fire limited to point blank range?

That would seem to be the case. Nice and bloody.

Jim

We are all agreed that your theory is crazy. The question which divides us is whether it is crazy enough to have a chance of being correct. My own feeling is that it is not crazy enough.

Has anyone tried this yet, either with the actual AAM or with proxies? With 'bout everything counting as cover, I'd expect dice luck to play a pretty large role. I'll definitely be trying it out this weekend, assuming my GO order arrives.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm not sure if I have enough for the B Company scenario. There is also a decent scenario in Scrye #88. I used it for the demo I did since it's short. Also, Steve I sent the stuff for the trade yesterday.

Thanks, William.

Y'know, it occurs to me that this might be a way for me to get some use out of all those DDM kobolds and goblins cluttering my tackle box. All I'll need is one of each of the actual AAMs in the scenario so I have the cards in hand.

Regards,
Steve F.

P.S. I joined you as a member of the Yahoo list. Now we can have secret talks about all the other ****ers, like Christopher Groves. [:D]

It's not clear (to me) if "Road hexes" are "Clear terrain" So they might remain as narrow lines of fire.[?] And the Marsh/Ponds don't block LoS. But with those exceptions. Yep, everything point-blank range. The Japanse armour may have been pathetic by the standards of the russian front. But their infantry was exceptional at fighting in the local terrain.

I played the Scrye #88 scenario, but found it to be too small to be very interesting. Tactical options on a board that size are virtually nil, although it does give infantry a shot at grabbing an objective hex.

The Guadalcanal scenario was a slugfest. The 1-hex visibility made it a mere die-rolling contest, as the two sides went into close assault as soon as they got adjacent. I might play it again to see if there's any other outcome possible. Anyone here do anything different? Can you do anything different in the jungle?

Haven't tried the North Africa scenario yet, as I didn't have the troops until yesterday. Anyone else played it yet?

I've found another PTO small-unit action with much wider fields of fire. I'm working it into a scenario which I'll post here for playtesting and commentary. Hope to get it up this weekend.

Regards,
Steve F.

Yeah, it is pretty small, but it's good if you are trying to teach someone how to play in a short amount of time.

I ran the senario from Scrye as well and found it interesting enough for a beginner course in the game play. Is it me or are the tanks a little more "Fragile" then you expected them?

Few units are truly durable in the game- the 7/6 tanks and the KV-1 being the exceptions. Try advancing against a couple of machine gun teams in cover and see how fast your infantry platoon melts :)
