| A year ago, the mere thought of "desecrating" a mini with paint would send shivers down my spine. Soon after, I started looking at various repaints done by the Masters such as Runelord and Zanaroth, and slowly, I began to succumb. Surely, adding in some missed details wouldn't hurt, now, would it? Finally, the paint-jobs (or lack thereof) in War Drums were the last straw. I asked a friend of mine who paints WH40k minis if I could bring a couple of minis over to his place and touch them up, and he said sure, why not.

This took all of five minutes, and it really, really, REALLY improves the look of both Hill Dwarves and the Aspect of Moradin. I now plan on buying some paints of my own (acryllics or enamels, that is the question?) and restoring all minis to their intended paint schemes.
Thanks again, all of you who post your absolutely stunning repaints here for us to enjoy. | | I agree. Go with acrylics - nice and easy to clean up (water only), no bad fumes. Dropper bottles is just icing, but also nice.

| Oooh. Pretty.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels his resolve draining away looking at all the fine work shown on these boards. It's been incredibly tough to NOT go buy a bunch of paint and brushes. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| | A little paint and or basing goes a long way towards making the minis look better. Also sometimes intimidates an opponent if you skirmish! Or at least makes your players or DM appreciate. I too would go with acrylics though I do also have plenty of old testor's. Sometimes there are just colors you just want. You can get cheap craft colors to start. I have grabbed a few Americana (similar to delta) from Pat Cattan's for 1 dollar per bottle. They are very thick, so you have to thin them down. But for less than 20 bucks you can grab basic colors, a set of brushes and a mixing tray. Or spend a bit more and get Games Workshop, Vallejo or some others. but those are close to 3 dollars per color with less than half the amount of paint. Good luck and let us know how it goes! | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. Wisdom comes from bad judgement. Member Team ROH Qwijoma on Wizards Boards | |

| I like the detail work on the Hill Dwarves' shields. Never noticed that before [:D]
Listen to Temperance. He know of what he speaks. Buy acrylics. Enamels are a very poor choice for painting DDM. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Champion of Dwarven Thunderlashers Knight of the Large Dire Chicken Have/Want List Trade References

| Very good job... yeah it is amazing how just a little touch up can drastically improve a mini.

| | I don't think I'll have the time to touch up the minis I'll be bringing to the Euro Champs this year. Oh well, there's always next year.
