| Thanks Corim Danex, that is correct. Photos need to be posted by midnight maxminis time next Saturday (13th May). I will draw the prize at that time (or shortly thereafter). All the instructions/rules are in the photo thread. If you need help posting an image, Read this, or ask, and I'll try to help. | | | |

| I am really going to try to have one ready by the deadline; I had all intentions of doing one but between overtime at work, my wife and son and DMing and writing for the D&D sessions...glumag has very little time [:(]

| I'm willing to chip in on prize support too. I have a lizardfolk rogue and a half-orc fighter (that he-who-shall-not-be-mentioned commissioned before his departure from the realms of minis!) that are available as prize support for the winner or 2nd and 3rd place if that would work better.
I'll post pics after...

| I've got mine up. Tried taking pics last night but even my super-duper new fancy-schmancy digital camera couldn't properly compensate for the lack of light. New pics this morning look much better.
I'm most please with how the shading on the cloak turned out. I've always envied those who can create realistic shading on clothing.

Yup. Mine's got lots of colors, but Red is somewhat dominant. I was toying with the idea of painting a blue tiefling (similar to This) but decided on a different color palette.
The minis posted so far are quite nice. Can't wait to see more.

| Wow Runelord - thanks for offering the extra prizes - we might draw out 3 winners, if that's ok, and they can take a pick in order.
Some comments on what we've seen so far: (sorry if I repeat myself, they all look good, and I don't really know enough synonyms for 'very nice'). Taliesin: I like the gold (and the matching skin), it looks really interesting and the red cloak has worked really well too. kestrel.ca: very good detail on the leather clothes/armour - very nice. elder_basilisk: Great base!! and I really like the gold line at the bottom of the cloak. Keianna: I love the armour, and the cloak, and the face has turned out great. The yellow pants seem a bit extreme with the subtleness of the other colours - but they make it really stand out. Nova42: The detail on the armour is great - and the green cloak is really pretty. Mrs. Rune: That's very different - I like the colours, and that's amazingly neat painting for your first mini. Well done. Maybe purple or blue pants might have worked better than the dark green? (but I'm not really sure).
Well done everyone - now I'd better go back to painting mine so it's finished in time.

| It's my pleasure Mrs Rune - I'm glad you had fun [:)].
I love your base DireBadger, and the painting looks great (though the photo is a little dark to see it properly). zenthrus - I like the colours - something different from all the darkness - the decoration on the cape is very cool too.

| Wow - there are so many good ideas in this one little get-together. It's inspiring to see what other folk see in this mini.
I love the bright colours - it never even occured to me to go BRIGHT, but it really works well. I love what some of you have done with the cloak, too. I did some shading and half-way blending on the black, but otherwise didn't get clever. That's my curse: I always want to finish a mini in one sitting, and rarely go back (Runelord, I'll swap you half of my curse for half of yours :).
Taliesin's choice of colours really works well and I love the base. Same with kestrel.ca - that base is great, and the bright red skin makes him look way creepy. Elder_basilisk's base is excellent, good complementary colours and a bit of freehand on the (red [:)]) cloak. Nice! Very different approach from Keianna - a green cloak (yay!). Nice work on the cloak shading, and the eyes (damned tricky on a head that small). Nova42, welcome out of lurkland [:D] - (see, smithmeg? You've made our community a little larger. Bless.) Nice work on the armour detail, and I like the dark skin tone. And Mrs. Rune, don't sell yourself short - that's great work for a first-timer. If you're comparing your work to your husband's, well...we pretty much all suffer by comparison [:D]. I love the blue skin and the magenta cloak. Plus basing! Go on, do some more (Mrs. Badger also painted a couple of minis years ago, and did a brilliant job, but I haven't yet convinved her to try again.)
I wasn't really aiming for vampiric, but our current DM thought 'vamp' as soon as he saw it, too: I was aiming for 'devilish', in a smirking Hammer-Horror 'Bow! How dare you!' kind of style :) My base plan only works from certain directions (the photos are quite kind to it) - from other angles it's just too...black. The 'smoke' came out okay though.
Zenthrus, like the cloak - but what do those devilish marks mean, hmmm?? hmmm?? And respect for getting the eyes in. Griffrat - looking forward to the finished product - it's pretty great as it is!
Keep them coming folks. And a big cheer for Runelord for volunteering some of his work for prizes. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] I can't wait just to see them: winning one would be, well a bonus prize.

Payday is not coming fast enough.
I am getting ready to post the pics of the work I did yesterday. I think that I jacked the eyes up by not thinning the paint down enough. You guys take a look and tell me what you think.
The eyes are always the thing that takes practice. And, as the difficulty that I had yesterady I can tell I have not picked up the brushes for the duration of the school year...shocking....[:I]
I will say the pics from everyone are great!!! This is a great community builder as we are getting to see and talk about things that are real....very cool thing. Way to go smithmeg.....[:D]
EDIT: Just posted yesterday's work and todays. After looking at the eyes I am not seeing the glaring problems I was when I was painting it. I still see something but it might just be the product of the rough day. No worries as all the entries are really cool. I am really amazed at the horns. This was something that I wasn't really sure how to handle. I see everyone's entries have ran the gamut....which is even more cool.... | | Ambassador of FUN!!!
