not sure if news has broken here but WOTC has also taken back the right to the publishing of the Dragonlnace rights. Not sure why. Maybe they want control back over the property in anticipation of the movie and possible interest in the game. Looks like end of books as well. Anyone have thoughts on why this is all happening now. I cant all be for the online content

Why would it be for the end of books when the books were under their license all this time?  They have books coming out all this year.  I don't read them but I'm curious about this aspect.

Also, could something be happening to Soverein Press?  Maybe that's why the icense is reverting.  Could you post a link, as I'd like to read more.  Thanks.

I'd like some more info as well.  Anyone?  I've always been under the impression that all the Dragonlance stuff was licensed to D&D, and WoTC.

I checked on dragonlance.com and here is some of what I know as well.

While WOTC had the book rights, the gaming rights was licensed out to Sovereign Press, the gaming company owned by Margare Weis and others. They had been given it 4-5 years ago and it was now up. They decided to not renew the license not that it has come up. I haven't heard any other plans other than books through Sovereign Press will be made through the rest of the year, and then.....? Status is unclear.

From what I've seen since, this may be a move to consolidate the license due to the movie being released and have more control over the products being released. There may be other reasons to. All I do know now is nothing has been said as to what the future of the line is.
