The PC's find a hallway (20' x over 120') filled with bones...in the middle of it, some of the bones got up...
...and the noise attracted a couple of ogre guards...

...the PC's re-enter (after burying the bard and recruiting an elf wizard)...they stumble upon some gnoll sentries...
...one of the gnolls fled, the rest died - when chasing the gnoll, they encounter draconians for the first time...
...and a few rooms later, guards ready and waiting for them...the druid killed a half-dozen with a spark shower from a Ring of Shooting Stars, then combat ensued (and yes, that is the druid surrounded yet again)...
...a few rooms later, they killed a few archer guards and walked into a barracks...and right into an ambush...they room was hit with a darkness spell, and a stone with Silence 15'R cast on it was thrown in...and immediately following that were oil pots and lit torches...when the darkness lifted, this is what the PC's saw...(the druid is lying on a bunk, not down)...

| | 03/27/2008 4:31 AM | Alert | ...and we continued the big darkness/silence ambush...the cleric and druid managed to get out of the silence and start spellcasting...the druid summoned some help in the form of fire elementals...
and after a few hippogriffs summoned, and the silence falling so the wizard could use his spells, the party emerged victorious...the investigated the rooms leading off the barracks...while searching they were attacked by warriors who were previously invisible...
...after that, they found the priests' private quarters...luckily, they had already killed him in the barracks fight...the searched for other exits - finding none, they threw the bar on the door and decided to rest... | |

...While exploring the "Hall of the Beast-Tamers", they encounter a denizen of the arena...
...from another angle...
...after exploring empty cells, they find a small office where a crystal ball is found and explodes in the wizard's face...releasing a Xeg-Yi (a creature of pure cold energy)
04/09/08...after exploring many more rooms, they encounter a pair of water trolls...far overmatched, they are forced to retreat through a magical gate (accidentally found by the wizard)...ending the test...

The group returned to the Temple and descended to the 2nd level...there they found an owlbear chained to the wall - while inching past it, a troll entered and pulled a lever - releasing the owlbear...and a battle ensued...
Barely damaged, they explored a couple more rooms...and found the Troll Chieftan...angered at the intrusion, he flew into a barbaric rage and attacked...
...it was a tough fight, the dwarf and wizard were doing the most damage...the wizard let fly with a lightning bolt, catching the troll squarely...angered, it picked the elf up and to the others' horror, it bit off the elf's head and tore his ribcage apart - covering his friends in gore...the same round, the dwarf felled the troll and proceeded to dismember it until restrained...

| | 04/18/2008 12:14 PM | Alert | Still from the 16th...the group buried what was left of thier friend and took a couple days off to rest and grieve...Sir Nordhelm (leader of the Knights based in Oakhurst), relayed a request from a younger knight to join them...and so Sir Gunther Eaglebridge joined the quest...
...they descended again into the temple...and after a bit of searching, found the Water Temple...and with it - the Canon Belsornig and his allies...
...after a very tough fight, they killed the gargoyles and lesser priests, routed the Canon and fled from the Juggernaut... | |
