When I look at what the price of houses have done here in Vancouver in the last twenty years, it seems like gas prices are just catching up. Chocolate bars, clothes, etc. all seemed to go up a lot more than gas did in the last twenty years. What are your thoughts? | |

| I think that yes, the prices have gone up a lot lately, (meaning te last 6 years or so) but really, we should have been prepared.
I think that Big Oil didn't want to adapt, and so will eventually die.
I think Detroit did the same, and we see them far behind the foreign producers in terms of hybrids and alternate fuels.
And I think that the US is withholding reserves in order to be the last ones with fuel, either for us, if necessary, or to sell away at exorbitan prices. But I don't think I'll be able to benefit from it.

| This week I paid $3.95 for gas, today it's back down to about $3.79. Fluctuates like crazy.
It hasn't popped above $4 here yet (except for diesel).

That's the really stupid one. Diesel costs less to make, and does have a steady demand, yet they charge more for it. Glad I didn't switch to a diesel car. | |

| Well a Diesel car can be converted to one that runs off of vegetable oil. 
My father is working on converting most of the diesel trucks in his company to these.

Which is honestly a short term solution right now. He's certainly not the first on boat as far as conversions go. I've a feeling by the time he gets around to it most places will be selling their waste oil or using it themselves.

I drove by my local gas station @ 9:30 am this morning to go do yardwork at the other home (the unsold one). The cost for gas was $4.02.Â
Passing back by said gas station at 12:05 pm, the price was now listed as $4.07. I should have gassed up earlier.Â
Absolutely ridiculous.Â

| I pay $0 for gas. Granted, I haven't owned a vehicle in 5 years. Last time I owned a vehicle gas had just creeped up to around $1.90/gallon and that was twice what it was in 1999 (I was paying $0.89/gallon then).
I'm not looking forward to $3.56/gallon (price yesterday when I was at the store) when I acquire a vehicle in August (the price will probably be higher by then). | |
