Tournament was a lot fo fun, 9 players and we were out before midnight. Store owner threw in an EXTRA prize booster on top of everything else - so we drafted [enormous spread on table from 1 booster per player] plus top place took home a booster in addition to the draft. Copy of Blue Dragon Lair map went to 2nd (I passed on it so it went to 3rd).
1st 4-0 "Wombats"
2nd 3-1 "Zippy"
3rd 3-1 Yamin
4th 2-2 "Fatespinner2001"
5th 2-2 Joel
6th 2-2 "Xerxes Naemyn"
7th 1-3 Jonny
8th 1-0 Del
9th 0-4 Donald
Wombats pulled Elder Red, but player Thunderblast + Storm Giant instead. Bold choice, probably more fun to play, and play it well he did.
My only loss was to Wombats. It came down to needing serious luck, which I was out of, to recover from his round 2 blast. He critted BOTH my main pieces (Ice Devil and crapmaster Guulvorg) and laid 40 into a couple others. Both mains instantly down to 35hp, nasty. In the end my tomebound was full, captain wounded, his Thunderblast at 50hp and his 2 Galebs wounded badly and perfect. I made 2 minor errors in the match, but it would have likely made no difference in the outcome - Wombats played a nearly textbook match and opened too strong to recover from.
King's Road:
Guulvorg (poopy)
Degenerate (too soft, everyone hits him, but his burst and extra attack while bloodied make him somewhat useful)
2x Goblin Runners (fast fodder, grab VP & flank)
Plaguetouched (filler)
Ice Devil (low HP, but nice abilities and defenses)
Tomebound Halfling (confusion blanket)
Captain / Watch (got a lot more inits thanks to Champ 1)
