| After you've had your fill at Endgame in Oakland on Saturday, c'mon over to Games of Berkeley (GoB) Tuesday evening July 15th for some more Against the Giants Limited (Sealed) action!
I'll have to check with GoB on prize support, but generally it is very good. I would say a fair bet would be that for the (already discounted) price of two boosters, there'll be one booster of prize support for every two players, i.e. Rares for the top half of finishing players and some great uncommons for the bottom half (if that's what you choose to pick from the prize pool!).
So, Tuesday July 15th - I hope to open boosters at 7pm the latest, try and RSVP and / or get there a bit earlier. See you then, -Ben

| Tonight's the night!
Pay for two boosters, get at least one half of a booster as prize support! That is, for every two participants there will be a prize booster! The best news, Games of Berkeley already has their Against the Giants boosters at a discounted price below $20!!! AND there's league prize support as well! Can't wait to see you all at GoB this evening, -Ben | | Champion of all things Athasian "Don't sing it - Bring it!"

| Well, not the best pulls (I thought...) but then I went 2-0, so I learned a bit more about minis in this set!
- Huges I pulled: Yuan-Ti Anethema & Earth Titan
The Yuan-Ti is certainly an intriguing figure, but in the 400 point Limited environment, his 290 points makes him a bit undesirable... And the Earth Titan, well I'd hope for a bit better Attack bonuses for the cost, but he seems like a reasonable beater. Let's see what my regular pulls are...
- Rares I pulled: Roper & Doresain, the Ghoul King
The roper has some neat tricks, good attack bonuses, but move 3... maybe on a map with a forward start area... And Doresain, boy that's not too many hit points for a 166 point fig! But his defenses are fantastic and he's also got some neat tricks up his sleave - and he's a Champion 3!
I won't go into the various Un/Common pulls, my final warband:
Doresain, the Ghoul King Earth Titan Elf Arcane Archer Blazing Skeleton Fist of Moradin Orc Zombie x 2 = 7 activations
I chose Hellspike because it's not only an Epic Map, making it easier for my Earth Titan to get around, but the smoke will block first round blasts from the Thunderblast Cyclone and won't hinder my Archer from pinging something with a phase arrow on round one.
So, first Round v. Ray, he played:
Thunderblast Cyclone, Dwarf Warsword, Mighty Swordmaster, Dragonborn Champ, Lurking Wraith, Galeb Duhr, and Gnaw Demon
And even without a Champion Rating he still won map initiative: Fields of Ruin (so much for blocking a round one 40 blast...). Round one I win initiative and move my Elf Arcane Archer out of blast effect (unless he only wants to hit my EAA...). I had split up sides so he'd have to choose between Doresain, an Orc Z., and my Bl. Skel., OR the Earth Titan, an Orc Z., and the Fist of Moradin. He went for Doresain and hit, so my low HP high cost commander is already down 40 HP! The fodder is also destroyed, so I'm down on activations. Luckily he doesn't have any more ranged threats, other than lightning bolts... My opponent does make one mistake and doesn't have any units quite close enough to the central victory area to get victory points. Of course my only unit who can get there is Doresain... so I move him up!
Round 2, and here's where I take a big risk! I win initiative (yay Champion 3!) and decide to activate Doresain. My opponent has moved most of his minis close together just outside of the central victory area, poised to rush in! I'm able to move Doresain to a spot in their midst that is within 3 of all but his gnaw demon! CLOAK OF MOUTHS! Everything takes 25 damage and is slowed (he didn't use the G. Duhr's defensive ability). But of course that doesn't matter because all of his minis can still get to Doresain to attack! The Galeb Duhr scores a hit, I'm down another 20! The Thunderblast Cyclone moves closer (a bit too close...) and lightning bolts me for another 10 - Doresain is down to 45 HP and the Warsword will be swinging at +20 for 40 damage - that with an autodamage lightning bolt would be his end! But with my Fist of Moradin in range, the Warsword will still need to roll a 15 or better to hit... and he misses! My opponents dice have finally slowed down! My Earth Titan continues to move forward, likely missing something with Hurl Earth. My Elf-AA shoots something, end of round.
Round 3... I win initiative again, (yay Champ 3) here's where my risk pays off! I activate Doresain, everything near me (my opponent's entire warband) takes 25 and is slowed (again) including the Thunderblast Cyclone. And now here's where I see Doresain truly shine - His 70 HP Dragonborn Champ has now taken 50 damage and is bloodied, Doresain's Champion power causes him another 20 damage, eliminating him! The Warsword and Swordmaster are also bloodied and also take another 20 damage each, dropping each of them to 20 HP! But can Doresain survive another round surrounded by my opponent's warband? Well, that's where the "coup de grace" of Doresain comes in. He's just messed up my opponent's warband, and now he gets to Teleport 12 spaces away!!! Of course he teleports well behind my Earth Titan, and my opponent's warband is all slowed so they can't pursue this round anyways...
Wrapping up, my Earth Titan and Elf AA take out the Galeb Duhr and Swordmaster quickly, he gets my Fist of Moradin and other Orc Zombie. The Warsword lasts a few more swings before he finally goes down, and the Thunderblast Cyclone doesn't save v. slow a second time, prohibiting him from chasing down Doresain before time is called. Doresain, you're a lot better than I thought!
1-0
Match 2, versus a father playing alongside his two young sons (they roll the dice :-)! They've got:
Elder White Dragon, Roper, Dragonborn Champ, Elf Pyromancer, Ochre Jelly, Goblin Runner
Eek, the great white! He'd chewed through a good player with a Chain Golem in his first match! This time we played on Hellspike (but not Thunderblast threat...) and he put his medium units in the more forward victory area leaving his Elder White and Roper further back. In Round 1 I picked off his Goblin Runner with a Phase Arrow and he flew his Elder White toward my Elf AA. His Pyromancer broke through the smoke and tried to fireblast my Elf AA, missing. Otherwise it was troop advancement.
Round 2. He won initiative and decided to Predator's Claw my Elf AA, taking him out of commission ('til round 3 when the Elder white bit his head off, guess he really doesn't like elves... or they're just really tasty!). I move the Blazing Skeleton to a flanking position and then bring the Earth Titan to use his Double Slam (or whatever it's called) ability against the Elf Pyromancer. The second attack bloodies him, and with Doresain's Champion power, the extra 20 damage is enough to take him out before he fireballs me! Meanwhile my opponent is winning the fodder war with his Ochre Jelly and a breath attack from the Dragonborn Champ, but neither of us have gotten victory points yet. His Roper chases down my Orc Zombie that had gone for a Victory area, but that takes him even further from the action...
Round 3. As I said, his Elder White destroyes my Elf AA, but has now passed up a few good cone opportunities. My Doresain and the Earth Titan finish off the Dragonborn Champ and I think a fire blast from my Blazing Skeleton took out his Ochre Jelly (he didn't pull two to split...). My Blazing Skeleton then runs off toward a victory area. At that point my opponent's Roper is too far away to get through the smoke and use his Range 10 ability and all of our titans are pretty much undamaged.
Round 4 is pretty uneventful, the Elder White is slowed and has taken some damage, the Earth Titan and Doresain took some cold damage (he didn't actually beat Doresain's insane Defense, but there's the auto-damage). I'm getting tile points and when time is called, I've got my Fist of Moradin, Blazing Skeleton, Doresain, Earth Titan and a few rounds of Victory points, and my opponent only has the Roper and Elder White.
2-0. I pull an Efreet from the prize pool, the other 2-0 player took the Death Titan. All in all I had a great time and I thank all of our participants and hope they take to the time to post their impressions as well. Thanks again everyone! -Ben | | Champion of all things Athasian "Don't sing it - Bring it!"

| I had a great time as well, and I also went 2-0 for the night.
My huges were Elder Red Dragon and Thunderblast Cyclone. Rares were Doresain the Ghoul King, and Shocktroop Devil.
Final band ended up being: Thunderblast Cyclone Dwarf Warsword Feybound Halfling Shifter Claw Adept Captain of the Watch Degenerate Cultist of Orcus Shocktroop Devil Gnaw Demon Hellwasp Goblin Runner
I decided to use Thunderblast Cyclone, because of the amazing ranged abilities, plus very accurate melee. I didn't use Doresain, because if I used him, my activations would be severely limited.
I chose Tomb of Queen Peregrine, which I played on both matches.
My first match was against Paul Mills. He played 2x Efreeti Flamestrider, Deathpriest of Orcus, and filler. I was able to knock 1 Efreeti and the Deathpriest down 40 each with Lightning storm early on, then rush in and finish them soon after. He knocked off a few of my creatures, then I finished off most of his creatures and was able to win after time was called.
My second match was against Zach. (I think) He played a Chain Golem, mighty blademaster, and filler. I won first round initiative, and he unknowingly place all his creatures besides the Golem in one start area, and I was able to blast them first round with the TC. I hit every single mini that was in the radius, killing his fodder, and really hurting the rest of his band. He was not able to recover from that, and brought his band down to just the Chain Golem surrounded by my minis, and finished him off.
Thanks Ben for organizing the tourney, I had a great time, and I hope and I can make it up to GoB again soon!
