Or is it an old D&D versus New D&D, like how some people loathe Warforged & Dragonborn?
No offense, I'm just curious and it occurs to me I've never asked.

Well....
1) I don't like the art for them in the MM2, they look like cr@p and not in a good way.
2) Well in 3rd ed we already had two templates that represented these critters, the Fiendish or Half-Fiend template.
3) Yeah a little of it for me is an old D&D thing. They look more like something from a sci-fi horror game.
4) If I want critters who look like they are from a sci-fi or horror game I'll either (a)play one or (b) use some Far Realm stuff
5) It was my WTF or Wrackspawn mini from Deathknell. The figure looked like much like the MM art..... and was not desired by me.

| Cthulhufnord seems to have nailed the reasons for kruthik hate. I think the big ones are a crappy 3.x write-up /mediocre 3.x artwork and a horrendous paintjob.
After repainting almost a dozen of the buggers I'm happy to report the sculpt is much better than you'd think under the WTF common paintjob. Also, the 4e write-up is far more interesting and the 4e artwork is better. Seems like kruthiks got better with a new edition.
Personally, I'd be very happy to see both a kruthik adult (uncommon) and kruthik Hive Lord (rare) mini in Demonweb. Granted, I could very well be in the minority  | |
