I really don't like the fact that, against a band that's immune to fire (or resist 15), this guy is basically screwed after he lets his Cone of Cold loose.

Let's say you're playing the piece, and you go up against a band that has resist 15 fire or immune fire on nearly all its pieces.

You send old Mordy into the fray (he is over one-third of your band, after all), use the Knife and the Cone.  Now, it's the third round, Mordy has probably been based, and has probably already taken a little damage.  All you can do is swing with a staff for 10 damage, and your opponent is likely carving up your insides.  As you've already taken some damage, you're probably two hits from death, and then your Knife trick ends.

Against bands without fire resistance, you're in decent shape if you can hang back for a little while.  But, as your ranged attacks are range 10 and not sight, I really am not seeing the love for this guy.

a little more diversity would be lovely. The reason the gauth went away in 1.0 was everyone and their friends had RES fire 5-15... This trend is continuing into 2.0...

Against non-fire RES (a lot of bands out there right now) he's great! His cone might be the best reason to run a shield guardian yet. And don't forget his hound... 5 auto dmg to all within 5 is big... Probably 20 dmg a round.

There are ways to make him work (skyfirecapt, sheild guardian, militia archer...) but we shouldn't have to use them to make him work... At his cost he should do well alone and he's an ALL STAR!

I guess he wouldn't be too bad with a bodyguard to absorb some of the damage, but still.

Bonuses to Damage don't apply to special abilities do they? Mordie's Faithful Hound with the Red Wizard's champion ability could be interesting, but I'm pretty certain it doesn't work like that.
