| As has been said in the Meetingplace forum, I'd like to organize such a tournament. I'm getting two cases of AtG in the next week or two, and I'd like to use them to put on a free-to-play, friendly (but still sanctioned) tournament. There won't be any prizes, but it'll hopefully be some nice, free fun.
I'm fairly certain I can make this a reality. Just need to find out when I'll have my cases, decide on a tournament date, and get a store's permission to host it.
Now, I'll only have twelve boosters, so I can only guarantee that the first six spots will be free (note: people who play with my boosters will be expected to return their contents). Any further players or people who want to keep their boosters' contents will be asked to bring their own or possibly purchase them on-site.
Anyway... Just putting this out here, as it'll almost definitely happen. More information will be given as it develops. | |

| Since the 13th of August was a wednesday, but the 13th of September is a Saturday, I'm guessing he meant September.

| Actually... I was doing something else while writing that. Meant to say 23rd. My bad. Must have hit 1 instead of 2, and when I came back to finish things up... I must have just continued with what was there.
It's fixed now. And I feel stupid.
But really... I've got the two cases sitting here with me. It'd be hell to just hold them until September 13th. I'm glad I don't have to wait that long to see what's in 'em. | |

| And now that it's over, a report!
One of the guys pulled Doresain, a Blackroot Treant, and a Deathpriest of Orcus all from the same booster. Talk about synergy!
We got one new player in on the game, who had never played DDM before. He pulled the Elder White, Fire Giant Raider, and Voracious Ice Devil, and ran all three. And he won every match he was in!
The third player pulled the Elder Red. It turned out to be that the Elder Red puts too many points in one basket.
The fourth player didn't pull anything that sticks out in my mind (save for the Adamantine Dragon that I was happy to see pulled), and he had an equal win-loss record.
One of the matches was great to see. The Doresain band against the Elder Red band. It had a lot of very lucky shots that swung the battle... And it ended with only Doresain on the field.
All in all, it was very entertaining, and I hope to run more small tournaments in the future. | |

| We got four players actually in the tournament. Also got a game going between two other people (neither of whom had played DDM) who showed up about halfway into the second (of three) rounds.
More players would always be good! We've actually got two new tournament organizers, both of whom are trying to solidify their status (which requires six tournaments to be organized within 90 days of the test), so I wouldn't know about whether we need help sanctioning things... But again, more players is always good! | |
