| Pairings for Round 5:
Table 1 band 11 versus band 3 Table 2 band 2 versus band 13 Table 3 band 1 verus band 14 Table 4 band 12 versus band 4 Table 5 band 10 versus band 7 Table 6 band 15 versus band 5 Table 7 band 8 versus band 9 Table 8 band 16 versus band 6
Round 5 is run on the Drow Outpost. An old favorite that hasn't seen much play in 2.0 due to the initiative rules and the lack of good titan builds.   The choke point is definatly going to favor some bands. Also flying and high mobility will be useful due to the ability to bypass the pits.

| Oh my, talk about new mirror matches. Here goes: Match 1: Player 3...it's about the tech I think. Match 2: Player 13. It feels like underdog voting but the more I look at the match-up the more I think 13 can do well on this map. Match 3: Player 14. Mirror match? Oh my. Match 4: Player 12. Area affect blasts suck for Lamia. Match 5. Player 7. Bring me more Dwarves! Seriously though...this is a weird mirror match. Match 6: Player 15...tough call. Freak versus Freak, methinks. Comes down to damage output. Match 7: Player 8. The enemy just has way too low armor to not have the STG take out someone vital or a few fodder pieces all at once early in the game. Match 8: Player 6. The map just has too many ways for Ice Archon + Swarms to get to where they want to go. -Jared
PS: Well, I've lost enough rounds to not stress about the WBC (My Suggestion would have been All-Rare Warbands or All Common Warbands), but huzzah, I'll still be voting. Do the same, fellow losers!

| Votes Match 1: Player 11 Match 2: Player 2 Match 3: Player 14 Match 4: Player 12 Match 5. Player 7 Match 6: Player 15 Match 7: Player 9 Match 8: Player 6
Comments Match 1: Player 11 has more mobility thanks to the Nightmare. It can move through the walls or fly over the pits. The Umber Hulk can get around rather easily too. I think that Player 3 will have a little more trouble (the Drider can almost fly). The tech is important, but Player 11 can bring more to bear on Player 3's flank. Match 2: The match will take place behind the lines, rather than on the bridge. The wizards don't want to get close, but, Player 2 can make close be wherever he wants. That said, it will be close. Match 3: The Ice Archon can get to the bridge from either start area, and he'll stay there. Player 1 will have trouble dropping him. Match 4: Despite the Lamia's ability to get to the bridge from the beginning, the total damage output from Player 12 onto the Lamia can drop it. The magic is the difference. Match 5: Player 10 runs out of steam when the Driders are done with their lightning. Then the edge drifts to Player 7. A close match. Match 6: The Tsucora Quori and the Bodyguard have too many hit points. Match 7: The Vrock's Stun combined with Thrall's speed and the cover fire of the Wild Mage are enough. Match 8: Ice Archon takes the bridge and won't let go.

| Match 1: 3 (better tech, more area damage, more ranged pieces to get activation lead) Match 2: 2 (more ranged pieces vs. easy to hit AC and DEF) Match 3: 1 (hard to say, but I think p1 has a good chance against only one melee piece with all thos ranged attackers 8 rolls per round... there should be some criticals) Match 4: 12 (too much area damage, bad luck for the lamia) Match 5: 10 (I can't predict a winner in this match, vote for 10 to keep the warband in the game) Match 6: 15 (more pieces and more weapons) Match 7: 8 (the tomb guardian will shine against Thrall) Match 8: 6 (Ice Archon combined with the swarms should seal the game)

| I spend all that time posting the bands, and I forget to post my vote. Pthbb.
Match 1: 3 (The amount of conceal in 3s band decides this one)
Match 2: 2 (The map essentially hands 2 the victory)
Match 3: 14 (1 has the clear ranged advantage, but 14 has the hi AC/hi speed beaters to tough it out and whoop the stuffing out of 1)
Match 4: 12 (12's Astral Stalker keeps the Lamia out of the fight long enough for the range attackers to take out Thrall, then an all out assault by 12 against the Lamia seals it up)
Match 5: 7 (Driders run out. Wild Mages don't. That's the decider in this particular round)
Match 6: 15 (5's Bone Naga might keep the Kalashtar from doing much for a little while, but while it's occupied keeping the KB away, the Thrall and TQ are laying waste, very quickly. 15 takes this one)
Match 7: 9 (8 has plenty of damage potential, but it's pretty squishy. And 9 squishes )
Match 8: 6 (6 outlasts and outfights, vs the 'do it quick or lose' strategy of 16) | | VINDICATED Champion of the Kruthik Hivemaster! (DW 50/60) Adorable?? You wouldn't know 'adorable' if it ripped your throat out with it's teeth!!

| I might be wrong, but looking at the standing and updating them with the last round's info:
4 Wins: Player 11. 3 Wins: Player 2, Player 3, Player 13, PLayer 14 2 Wins: Player 1, Player 6, PLayer 9, Player 10, Player 12, Player 15 1 Win: Player 4, Player 5, Player 7, Player 8 0 Wins: Player 16, who still totally rocks for trying something different.
And THAT is why I would like to give a shout-out to my fellow WBC folks who know they most likely can't win anymore. -Jared

headache. So at the bottom of this thread you will (hopefully) find
updated records of round 5's statistics!!
BTW: editing a post (especially when using HTML) on this forum is not the simplest thing to do... maybe it's just my Firefoxiness...

| bshugg was at GenCon and so we're probably going to have to wait for him to get caught up at work and all that.
He'll probably announce the top 4 bands, and then we'll do the playoffs after that.

| I figured I would let this one continue til after gencon since so many board members would be there. If you were at the Con you could of had a chance of seeing one of the prizes for the winners. I ran 3 painted oni's (red, blue, and purple). Red will be one of the prizes.

| Curious to see how that works.....from the stats it looks like there's a crapload of Warbands competing for that 4th place. Top 3, no worries. That 4th slot though, I see 4-5 warbands all with the same win/loss record.  Which is awesome. -Jared | | | |

Sorry for the delay. The second painter has been giving me the run around on getting a fig done and I wanted to hold off the T4 until I could show what people are playing for.  I gave up on waiting and painted up a Shadow Hulk for 1st place price.  That makes:
1st:Â Shadow Hulk 2nd: Oni
There are 2 Tiebreaks that needed to be made: Match 3 Band 1 has some solid ranged threats but they are a bit fragile. The outpost is pretty good for blocking the path, but band 14 has the fast and sturdy archon, 2 jumping spiders and a pair of driders that can make it across and pound on the ranged figs.  The stalkers on both sides will generally be harassing the main hitters and both bands run driders.  I think band 14 will be able to get in and kill the weaker ranged figs on band 1 for the win
band 14 wins
Match 7
Band 8 has a nice mix of hitters, but they are a bit fragile. Band 9 has 3 solid hitters and good ranged support. I'm suprised at how this band ended up in the middle of the pack as its a really nice build. Thrall and digester can hold the bridge while the vrock and ranged figs can harass and finish off anything wounded. Proper playing of the thrall can get him pretty massive.
Band 9 wins
With that the final standings for the swiss rounds are: 4 wins: Band 2 Band 3 Band 11 Band 14
3 wins: Band 7 Band 12 Band 13 Band 15 2 wins: Band 1 Band 4 Band 6 Band 9 Band10 1 win: Band 5 Band 8 0 wins: band 16
Next round pairings will go up shortly. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! Check out my brand new blog: http://bshugg.blogspot.com
