| The Beta is a cool revision of 3.5, a system I never much cared for as a game master. Pathfinder pulls the neat trick of making me want to run it by stripping out a lot of the fiddly things that turned me off and presenting a bare bones system that is easier to house-rule at this point in time than 3.5. It helps, too, that their campaign world, Golarion, is so well-written and consistent. I'm looking forward to the finished product.

| | I looked it over and like what I see. I hate using a computer at the game table, so I'll be forking over the $25 for the in hand copy and giving it a test run next time I DM. | | Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say "Ni" at will to old ladies. -Roger the Shrubber | |

| | The soft cover is a nice book. Only problem is there is no index which drives me a bit crazy when I am trying to find something specific and I don't recall where I saw it. Well worth the price! | | Give me more MIND FLAYERS! | |

| I've been looking through the dead tree beta..... color me impressed. I'm really happy with the changes they made to 3.5. Quite a few changes to the classes (hit dice) were house rules I espoused over the years. Each class looks like it has no dead levels, which was one of my beefs with 3.0 & 3.5. They Even fixed the Polymorph spells!
One of the guys at school is talking about running a 3.5 game. I'm going to see about convincing him to run one with the Pathfinder rules now.

Maybe bug them and they can tack on an index (and glossary). | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. I'm figuring there will be one in the final release. They had to cut 60 odd pages from the beta and put them in a Web enhancement as it is. | | Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say "Ni" at will to old ladies. -Roger the Shrubber

There were never any so called dead levels. Sure, some levels were better than others, but you got something at every level. I'm concerned about this need to have more cool stuff at every level. Seems to me that it will ramp up the inherent munckinism of 3e even further. It will be interesting to see how Paizo handles this.
In any event, I'll be giving Pathfinder a look see. | | WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :(

| Posted By greyhaze on 10/14/2008 10:23 AM So any word on a final edition for Pathfinder? It's still in the playtest phase. The core book will be released sometime next year.

Probably. Last I heard they were lookign to launch sometime in 09 but can't remember when. Doubt it's any earlier than Gen Con. | | Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say "Ni" at will to old ladies. -Roger the Shrubber
