There was a huge session where the PCs lead teams of dwarves against over 100 goblins, hobgoblins, and worse, all guarding this underkeep.
I tried very hard to throw PCs and dwarves into the lava.
Several enemies went in... one of the NPC dwarves went in, but, the closest I got to tossing in a PC was to force a check for him to grab the ledge and hang out over the bridge with his toes getting toasted.

| Stunning...simply stunning.
I've gamed in the Forgotten Realms for years, and ran several campaigns in and around the Mines of Tethyamar and I've never thought of putting that type of underground bastion in the Mines prior to this.
Your building skills and creativity have changed the way I look at the mines - from now on, they simply have to have a castle like this guarding the entrance to the main halls. Thanks for giving me a new perspective on an old favorite RPG location of mine. | |
